Continuation on…The workings of mental proliferations (papañca).
Papañca, a term found in the Pali Canon of Theravada Buddhism, refers to the tendency of the mind to create and become fixated on concepts and mental fabrications. This mental proliferation can lead to suffering and a distorted understanding of reality. To counter papañca, Buddhists strive to cultivate mindfulness and to see through the illusion of the ego and the constant flow of thoughts and concepts.
