The Sunday Vipassanā classes explore the Satipatthāna practice which forms the core meditation practice instructed by the Buddha, leading to the attainment of Nibbāna.
What is Vipassanā?
Vipassanā or Insight is the practice by which one develops insight into the workings of Mind and Matter through the techniques of Kayānupassanā, Vedanānupassanā, Cittānupassanā and Dhammānupassanā. The core aspects of the Vipassanā practice are ‘three characteristics’ of contemplation- Anicca, Dukkha & Anatta (Impermanence, Unsatisfactoriness and Non-self)
Our weekly session on Sunday includes a guided Vipassanā meditation and the opportunity to address any questions with regards to the practice.

Suttas, also known as sutras, are texts that contain the teachings of the Buddha in the Pali Canon, the collection of early Buddhist scriptures. They consist of discourses given by the Buddha, as well as stories and dialogues that illustrate his teachings. The suttas cover a wide range of topics, including the Four Noble Truths, the Eightfold Path, ethics, mindfulness, and the nature of reality. The Pali canon is divided into three parts: the Vinaya Pitaka, which contains the rules and regulations for the monastic community; the Sutta Pitaka, which contains the discourses of the Buddha; and the Abhidhamma Pitaka, which contains systematic philosophical treatises. The Sutta Pitaka is further divided into five nikayas (collections) which are Digha Nikaya, Majjhima Nikaya, Samyutta Nikaya, Anguttara Nikaya and Khuddaka Nikaya. These suttas are considered to be the most important source of the Buddha's teachings and are still studied and practiced by Buddhist today.
